Text won’t auto-paste into a specific app
Auto-insert works in most apps but not one in particular — here’s why, and how to get your text.
If dictation pastes fine in most apps but not one specific app, your text isn’t lost — when Mutter can’t paste, it copies the result to your clipboard and shows a small Result window, so you can press ⌘V to drop it in.
Try these
- Make sure your cursor is actually in a text field in that app before you release the hotkey.
- Confirm Accessibility is on (it’s what lets Mutter paste).
- Update Mutter — recent versions greatly improved auto-paste into browser-based and Electron apps (e.g. Claude, VS Code, Slack). See Updating Mutter.
Some fields block synthetic paste by design — notably password fields. In those cases the text stays on your clipboard so you can paste it yourself. If a normal text field still won’t accept auto-paste after updating, tell us which app at support@muttervoice.com.
